Sourced from an artist friend in Brittany, the wood was kept in my garden until nature took her course and created her imprint on the wood. The resulting patterning and colour is entirely natural and the result of the decaying process - perfectly encapsulated in the Japanese concept of wabi-sari. The piece was then hand-turned on my lathe and then left to dry until the wood had stabilised. The uneven form is an effect of the drying process. Wax finish. 24 cm diameter x 12 cm tall.
