Explorations in colour

As those of you who follow my work will know, the palette that I work with is broadly monochrome. More recently however, I’ve been thinking about and exploring ways to introduce colour into my work. I want to use colour in such a way that it does not detract from the wood. The painterly series from my previous blog post represented the start of that process and used dye in such a way as to make visible the structure of the wood itself while borrowing from painterly styles in art. My current work represents a shift in a new direction to explore flat colour as a means of revealing the inherent texture of the wood. I hope you like it!
